Eligibility

Library cards are available to anyone living, working or owning property in Amherst. Cards are also available to non-residents for a fee.

Residents and property owners should present a photo ID and printed verification of address when applying for a card. 

Employees working in Amherst should bring a letter verifying employment signed by their employer.

Student cards are issued to non-residents attending Amherst schools. Cards are valid year-round until graduation. Student cards must be renewed at the beginning of each school year.

Non-Residents may purchase a family membership for $50.00/year. One card is issued and may be used by any member of the family. Additional cards are $5.00.

Institutional cards are available to educational organizations within the Town of Amherst at the discretion of the library director.
