It's summertime and the living is...a little bit easier. Kick back with some fun, easy (and some “not so fluffy”) summer reading from our August Book Display.

We all look forward to warm, lazy afternoons, the lure of the beach towel, or chaise lounge and even though you might not be able to get to the beach, some of these Beach Reads will help you feel like you’re actually there. After all, summer reading should be pleasurable, so grab a glass of lemonade and read away.

*The result of our favorite beach contest was a tie between Hampton Beach & Ogunquit Beach in Maine.

Congratuations to Patty Labounty for winning our beach raffle prize!

The Olympics
(July 2012)

The London Olympics are almost here! Take a look at our July display and catch up on some Olympic history, read a novel that takes place in London, or watch Chariots of Fire.

And don’t forget to participate in our graph of which Olympic sports you participate in. I'm curious to see if we have any Amherst residents who do archery, fencing, or boxing...

Travel
(June 2012)

For the month of June, we'll have a selection of travel literature, both fiction and nonfiction, travel guides, DVDs and more. Going anywhere this year for vacation? Been anywhere interesting recently? Pin the map and show us where.

May In New Hampshire Means Party Time In the Garden
(May 2012)

It is said that you can bury a lot of troubles digging in the dirt. Amherst Town Library is here to help you bury your troubles and “party” in the garden. In that spirit we invite you to stop by our May gardening display table near the circulation desk. You will find books, videos, magazines and more to inspire, motivate, and educate you. As an added bonus there will be a raffle drawing each week for the month of May. County Stores, Agway of Milford, The Garden Party Boutique and Trombly Gardens have generously joined with us to reward you with a chance to win one of our weekly prizes.

National Poetry Month
(April 2012)

April is National Poetry Month and at the Library we are celebrating the ways poetry brings pleasure and sustains us!

Take a look at our Staff "Poetree" blooming with some favorite poems of our Staff, get inspired with our Poem of the Week, dip into our Take a Poem...Leave a Poem... bowl of poems, or check out one our many poetry books.

Vegetarian and Vegan Cookbooks
for Meatless Monday Recipe Ideas

Do vegetables scare you? Are you interested in incorporating more vegetables and grains in your diet, but don’t know where to start? After the wonderful treats and special foods of the holidays, many people set their goals on healthy eating for the New Year.
